Jazz saxophonist Frank Kozyra has been a longstanding member of the New England jazz scene, performing as both a leader and sideman since 1997. Having studied jazz at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts under Dave Santoro, and at New England Conservatory of Music under Jerry Bergonzi, Frank also holds degrees in culinary arts from the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, and in musical instrument repair from Renton Technical College. A versatile musician comfortable with crossing genres, Frank has performed with latin jazz groups “Insight” and “Ed Fast and Conga Bop”, the jazz/blues/rock crossover group “Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band”, and the legendary Anthony Braxton’s Weslyan University large ensembles, among others. Due in early 2015 is the debut album of a quartet Frank co-leads with Andrew Renfroe, Matt Dwonzsyk and Curtis Torian. Frank currently lives in Connecticut, where he works as an instrument repair technician.
