Dave Palla Trio
The Dave Palla Trio is a “Nat Cole style” configuration of Dave Palla guitar & vocals, Dan Scheer piano, and Paul Fuller bass. They’ve played shows regionallly for the last 10 years including GHFJ Bushnell Park 2007 & 2008 (hartfordjazz.com) Paul Fuller Group; East Hartford Summer Concert Series (1 year); Bloomfield Summer Concert Series (3 years); ongoing weekly and bi-weekly gigs 1 1/2 year each at 2 Hopewell (Glastonbury), CW Chops (Manchester), and Acqua (Vernon now Wood’n’Tap). The DPT also has appeared at many other clubs, libraries, art centers, and senior centers in central CT. Dave Palla and Paul Fuller originally hail from East Hartford CT and Dan Scheer grew up in Baltimore MD, now residing in CT. Palla played small clubs in the 1970’s around CT in solo and duo performances including Cafe de Olla Winsted and LaBoca Middletown before taking a 25 year hiatus. Dave recalls studying jazz guitar in the early 1970’s with guitar master Bob Kobus wherein one hour lessons often turned into 6 hour jam sessions! Dan Scheer is a graduate of the Berklee School of Music Boston MA where he earned a degree in graphic design. Soon after Berklee, Dan went on the cruise ship circuit, playing piano internationally. Paul Fuller, emerging as a bassist on the local jazz scene, started out producing jazz shows locally from 2003-5 and with encouragement from Steve Davis, Nat Reeves, and Paul Brown has returned to playing after sitting in on shows that he was producing. Fuller studied with Dr Charles Gigliotti at MCC Manchester CT in the middle 1970’s.
